Library Rules
Welcome to Bowling Green Public Library! We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment for everyone. To help ensure a positive experience for all visitors, we ask that all patrons follow these library rules.
General Conduct
- Treat library staff, patrons, and library property with respect. Use indoor voices and avoid disruptive behavior.
- Harassment, threats, abusive language, or unsafe behavior will not be tolerated.
- Shirts and shoes are required at all times.
Children
- Children under age 12 must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or caregiver while in the library.
- Adults responsible for children attending library programs should remain in the building during the program.
Phones & Noise
- Cell phones are permitted, but calls should be kept brief and quiet. Headphones must be used when listening to audio.
Food & Drink
- Food is generally not permitted in the library unless approved for a library event or program.
- Drinks are permitted if they are in secure, spill-resistant containers with lids.
- Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Library Director for programs, events, or special circumstances.
Smoking, Alcohol & Drugs
- Smoking, vaping, and tobacco use are prohibited on library property.
- Alcohol, illegal drugs, and being under the influence are prohibited.
Animals
- Only service animals or animals participating in approved library programs are permitted in the library.
Weapons
- Weapons are prohibited on library property except as permitted by law enforcement.
Library Property
- Please handle library materials, furniture, and equipment with care.
- Theft, vandalism, or intentional damage to library property may result in loss of library privileges and/or law enforcement involvement.
Failure to follow library rules may result in removal from the library and suspension of library privileges.
Library staff reserve the right to enforce these rules to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.
