Library Card and Borrowing Policy
A library card gives you access to books, materials, computers, digital resources, and services available through Bowling Green Public Library and Missouri Evergreen.
Library Cards
- Library cards are available to all residents of Bowling Green free of charge.
- Residents outside Bowling Green city limits may purchase a library membership.
- Individual Membership: $20 per year
- Family Membership: $40 per year
- A valid photo ID and proof of current address may be required when applying for a library card.
Borrowing Materials
- Library cardholders may borrow books and other materials from Bowling Green Public Library and participating Missouri Evergreen libraries.
- Loan periods and checkout limits may vary depending on the type of material.
- Patrons are responsible for all items checked out on their account.
Renewals
- Most materials may be renewed if no other patron is waiting for the item and renewal limits have not been reached.
- Renewals may be completed in person, by phone, or online through Missouri Evergreen.
Holds
- Patrons may place holds on available materials through Missouri Evergreen or by contacting library staff.
Overdue Materials & Fines
- Library materials should be returned by the due date so they remain available to other patrons.
- Overdue materials may accrue fines according to current library fee schedules.
- We understand that circumstances happen and encourage patrons to communicate with library staff if they are experiencing difficulties returning materials.
Lost or Damaged Items
- Patrons are responsible for lost or damaged materials checked out on their account.
- Replacement costs and applicable fees may be charged for lost or damaged items.
Library accounts with unpaid fines, fees, or lost materials may have borrowing privileges restricted until balances are resolved.
